November 19, 1990 — Junior Jewell usually goes to Family Convenience in Luray every morning to gas up, buy a couple of doughnuts and get some Virginia Lottery tickets. So imagine Janice Finney’s surprise a couple of Saturdays ago when he didn’t buy any tickets.
And then imagine Jewell’s surprise when he bought a “Big Deal” ticket, scratched it and found three aces, and became $10,000 richer.
“Fifty dollars was the highest we’d given away (on an instant ticket) until now,” Miss Finney said.
