Father issued full custody in court July 8; mother took 6-year-old to Vegas

LURAY, July 21 — The Luray Police Department issued a statement on Monday related to a missing person report filed by the father of a 6-year-old Luray boy on June 23.
“The Luray Police Department along with federal and local law enforcement are actively investigating the missing juvenile case of Harrison Jones,” the LPD statement reads. “The juvenile was reported missing on June 23rd, [10] days after he was last seen by his father.”
The July 21 police statement goes to say that, “Once reported to [the] Luray Police Department, it was discovered that the father has primary physical custody and the mother had joint custody, all living in the same household at that time.”
The missing person report was published, along with a photo of the 6-year-old boy, on social media sites. That report stated that, “Harrison may be with his non-custodial mother in Las Vegas, NV.”
Photographs posted on social media during this time showed the youth on an airplane. Luray police stated that soon after the missing person report was made public, “investigators were able to locate the child with his mother in North Las Vegas and a welfare check was performed with no issues found.”
During a court proceeding that followed on July 8, “a judge issued a full custody order to the father,” according to the statement.
“This enabled the Luray Police Department to obtain abduction warrants on the mother on July 9th,” the statement continued. “The father has been made aware of every action the Luray Police Department has taken thus far. Continuous efforts are being made to locate the juvenile and bring him home safely.”
