Stillwell faces multiple charges after lane change causes chain reaction

SHENANDOAH, April 2 — Virginia State Police is still investigating a multiple-vehicle accident that occurred earlier this month just north of Shenandoah. The incident resulted in multiple charges against a Luray driver, and three people were rushed to medical facilities.
At about 2:23 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, William C. Stillwill of Luray was driving his 2003 Toyota Tacoma south along Route 340. Just north of Shenandoah about one-tenth of a mile north of McDaniel Lane, Stillwill’s Tacoma crossed the center line to avoid two vehicles making a left turn, according to a state police report.

The Tacoma then abruptly crossed back across the centerline to avoid a northbound tractor trailer. The abrupt lane change back caused the Tacoma to strike a 2012 Subaru Legacy, the VSP report states. That impact forced the Subaru into the northbound lanes, where it was struck by the 2016 Mack 600 truck.
The Tacoma, meanwhile, struck a nearby pickup.
Two people were airlifted from the scene and a third person was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Stillwill was arrested and charged with obstruction, driving while under a suspended license, and reckless driving, as well as additional traffic offenses.
No report was given on the condition of the victims in the accident.
