STANLEY — Agricultural and conservation groups are partnering to host a candidate forum ahead of the November elections on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Stanley fire hall on East Main Street. The Alliance for the Shenandoah Valley and Page County Farm Bureau Federation recognize that candidate forums provide an important opportunity for voters to meet the candidates, ask questions, and hear directly from those seeking office about why they are running.

Forum organizers emphasize that significant effort has gone into ensuring the event remains civil, nonpartisan and informative for all county voters.

On the day of the forum, doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for question submissions. Index cards will be provided, and all questions must be written in the form of a question — not as a statement or testimonial. Cards must be submitted no later than 5:45 p.m., followed by the forum starting promptly at 6 p.m.

An impartial moderator will select and read the questions, as well as make decisions about follow-up by candidates. All officially registered candidates have been invited to participate.

The forum will be video recorded, ensuring county residents have the opportunity to stay informed even if they cannot attend in person.
