Age 96, Luray, Va.
Alice Marie Stanley, 96, of Luray, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 21, 1927, in Luray and was a daughter of the late Earl William Lillard and Virginia Blanche Bolen Lillard.
Alice had worked as a leather inspector at the Virginia Oak Tannery in Luray. She had been a member of the Rileyville Gospel Church since 1983, where she taught youth Sunday school for seven years, and was active with the ladies fellowship and the church choir.
On April 27, 1975, she married David Elwood Stanley, who died on July 2, 2008.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Jennifer Stanley of Luray; a daughter, Emalice Jewell of Luray; a brother, Larry A. Lillard of Luray; three grandchildren, Matt Pettit, Lori Van Fossen and Whitney Stanley; three step grandchildren, Aaron, Alyssa and Ryan; and four great-grandchildren, Derek, Megan, Allison and Colt.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene W. Lillard, Donald Lee Lillard and and Bobbie R. Lillard.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 15, at the Rileyville Gospel Church by Pastor Donnie Lam. Burial will be in the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m on Thursday, March 14, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rileyville Gospel Church.
