Barbara Mae Wolfe Shenk, 91, of Luray, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Page Memorial Hospital.
She was born on August 1, 1934, in Columbia City, IN, and was the only child of the late Robert Edward Wolfe and Ethel LuDell Johnson Wolfe.
Barbara graduated from Columbia City High School in 1952 and Madison College, now James Madison University, in 1956. Her advanced degree work was done through JMU and the University of Virginia. She was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Panhellenic Sorority and the Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority. She was elected to membership in the Stratford Players, the dramatic arts society, as a result of her acting and starring in college plays.
Barbara taught in the business department at Luray High School for 32 years, retiring in June 1989. She was a member of the Luray United Methodist Church, Town and Country Supper Club, the Luray Caverns Country Club, the Cave-ettes ladies golf group, and the social and philanthropic Pink Pearl Ladies Club.
On May 6, 1955, Barbara married Gary Allen Shenk, who passed away on February 11, 2006.
Burial was private.
