Beatrice Elaine “Bea” Tutt, 65, of Luray, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 21, 2023.
She was born on January 28, 1958, in Luray and was a daughter of Columbus Tutt Jr. and Elaine Rita Coleman Tutt of Luray.
Beatrice was a butcher and manager for Safeway Corporation, retiring in 2006 after 30 years of service. In her second career, she ran her own business as a private chef and childcare provider for families throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area. This allowed her to pursue her lifelong love of cooking and working with and educating young children. Upon retirement, she returned to Luray to care for her beloved parents. She was a graduate of Luray High School and a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church in Luray.
Ms. Tutt will be forever remembered by family and friends for her compassion, strong will and selflessness. She was a gracious woman who relished in caring for others and she was dedicated to her family, in particular her two sons and grandson, with whom she took tremendous pride in their accomplishments. Her spirit and the fond memories now live within us all.
Surviving in addition to her parents are two sons, Craig Lamont Tutt of Chicago, IL, and Christopher Joseph “Chris” Robinson of Alexandria, VA; her daughter-in-law, Anne Benton Robinson of Alexandria, VA; two brothers, Jeffrey Shawn Tutt and James Rinaldo Tutt, both of Luray; two sisters, Jennifer Dawn Tutt of Harrisonburg, VA, and Angelia Faye “Angie” Tutt of Bowie, MD; and one grandchild, J Saul Columbus Robinson of Alexandria, VA.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Columbus Tutt III.
Ms. Tutt’s home-going service will be at Bethel Baptist Church, 18 Carillon Drive, Luray, VA, on Friday, July 28 at 1 p.m., immediately followed by a celebration of life lunch.
