January 30, 1961 — Army Sgt. Jerry L. Knight, son of Mr. and Mrs. John I. Knight of Bentonville, was one of the presidential military escorts in the Inaugural Parade for President-elect John F. Kennedy in Washington, D.C., Jan. 20. The 1st Battle Group, 3rd Infantry of Fort Myer, is the unit Sgt. Knight is assigned to. This is a specially selected unit which serves regularly as the President’s personal honor guard. The group also performs ceremonial activities at high-level functions and provides guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
