With love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Betty Lou Harris, 82, of Shenandoah, Virginia, on March 18, 2025. Born on October 30, 1942 in Colorado, she was the daughter of Rudy and Harriett Walker and the devoted wife of Edward L. Harris. Betty’s kind spirit and deep love touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
Betty’s greatest joys in life were her faith and her family. She spoke often and lovingly about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, finding endless pride and fulfillment in the family she built. To Betty, family wasn’t just an important part of life. It was her heart’s greatest treasure and the legacy she held most dear. Betty’s love was felt in every word of encouragement and the countless ways she cared for those around her, creating a home filled with joy, love, and a deep sense of belonging.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Kirk Edward Harris and wife, Joy, Derek Lee Harris and wife, Lacinda; grandchildren, Tabitha, Preston and wife, Sarah, Shasta and husband, Nico, Amanda; great-grandchildren, Stratton, Colton, Lindsay, Alaina, Isaiah, Greyson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends who will greatly miss her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Edward Leeroy Harris; her cherished grandson, Kendrick Lee Harris; parents Rudy and Harriet Walker; and many dear siblings.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Brad Lewis officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the Memorial Service where friends and family are invited to gather and share memories in honor of Betty.
Though Betty may no longer be with us in person, the love she shared and the lessons she taught will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family will continue to shine through the lives she touched.
