Age 97, Luray, Va.

Beulah Maxine Berry Williams, 97, of Luray, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 8, 1927, in Luray and was a daughter of the late Vernon Bailey Berry and Beulah Irene Chrisman Berry.

Maxine worked at the Luray Textile plant for 37 years. She also worked at Luray Caverns as a sales clerk for 25 years and was a member of Forward For Christ Baptist Church in Luray. She was also a former member and past president of the Luray Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

On July 5, 1958, she married Frederick Wayne Williams, who died on September 27, 2017.

Maxine is survived by three daughters, Dianna Keeney (Sonny), Tammy Sullivan (Jeff), and Tina Fox (Anthony), all of Luray; two sons, Charles Henry “Juno” Carroll Jr. (Diane), and Timothy Williams (Brenda), both of Luray; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. 

She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Henry Carroll Sr.; and two sisters, Betty Strickler and Dorothy Martin.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, at Forward For Christ Baptist Church by Pastor Josh Parlett, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray.

Memorial contributions may be made to Forward For Christ Baptist Church or to the Luray Volunteer Fire Department.

Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
