Bobby Wayne Blackwell, age 80, of Parrish, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, at Lakewood Ranch Hospital.
Born on January 4, 1945, in Bristol, Tennessee, to Edith Hensley and Finis McLeary, Bobby was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Bobby is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Gail Renshaw Blackwell; his cherished daughter, Jessica Lynn Blackwell; and his three adored grandchildren, Savanna Frances Heim, Brooklyn Gail Heim, and Benjamin Shepard Heim. He is also survived by his two half-sisters, Paulette Smith and Marcia Hodges.
A proud Marine, Bobby served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. After his service, he moved to Washington, D.C., where he attended banking school and embarked on a distinguished 40-year career in banking. He retired as Vice President at BB&T and continued to share his expertise as a consultant during his retirement years. He was a member of the Lions Club, Elks Club, Chamber of Commerce and the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Bobby was known for his love of people and his generous spirit. He dedicated much of his life to helping those in need, including the poor and homeless. His kindness and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
A funeral service will be conducted on February 22, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home by Pastor Josh Parlett.
Visitation will take place the evening before, on February 21, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home, located at 187 E. Main Street, Luray, Virginia 22835.
Bobby will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
