Body of missing man found near Lewis Falls in Shenandoah National Park

LURAY, July 7 — Shenandoah National Park has suspended the investigation into missing person Robert “Bob” Bieri. Search teams located the body of Mr. Bieri at 12:13 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2025, near Lewis Falls.

Mr. Bieri, 61, of Severna Park, Maryland was reported missing on Saturday, July 5, 2025. He was last seen off-trail in the vicinity of Lewis Falls. Shenandoah National Park activated a full-scale search operation late evening on July 5.

The search was led by Shenandoah National Park aided by Virginia Department of Emergency Management, Department of Wildlife and Recreation, Rockingham Fire Department, Harrisonburg Fire Department, Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office, Shenandoah Mountain Rescue Group, Maryland State Police, United States Park Police, United States Customs and Border Protection, Potomac Appalachian Trail Club, Appalachian Trail Club, Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, and all others that assisted with the search.
