LURAY, Oct. 30 — For the fourth time this season (and the third time on their home court), the Bulldogs of Luray will face off with the Eagles of Clarke in a Region 2B quarterfinal on Tuesday night. Luray has lost two of the previous meetings, including last week’s 3-1 loss in a Bull Run District tournament semifinal in Berryville. However, Luray enters this week’s game following news last Thursday that five Bulldogs earned All-District honors.
Seniors Gracie Embry and Summer Forder, along with junior Caydence Cave, all earned first team All-District honors in the Bull Run. Sophomore Reese Fitton and junior Avery Jewell, along with Page County senior Faith Mason, were selected for the All-District second team.
The Bull Run District Player of the Year was Central of Woodstock senior Bailey Sheetz.
Luray finished third in the district, and is now the sixth seed in the Region 2B tournament, which starts Tuesday evening. Here’s Tuesday night’s quarterfinal lineup:
- #8 Stuarts Draft (3-15) at #1 Central (20-1)
- #7 Madison Co. (11-7) at #2 Ft. Defiance (14-4)
- #6 Luray (14-8) at #3 Clarke Co. (15-8)
- #5 Buckingham (11-7) at #4 Riverheads (11-9)
