November 22, 1990 — For the second time in less than a year, a Page County town’s council has expressed its dissatisfaction with a proposed hike in the rates charged by Adelphia Cable. At Monday night’s meeting of the Luray Town Council, Town Attorney John Bushey was requested to look into the town’s rights to regulate cable rates, which Adelphia will increase from $12 to $15 a month for basic service as of Jan. 1. According to Adelphia General Manager Jim Kitchen the 1984 Cable Communications Policy Act passed by U.S. Congress and signed by President Ronald Reagan removed that authority from the town.
