Age 21
Cameron Scott Turner, 21, of Cleveland, GA, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
He was born on July 24, 2003, in Harrisonburg and was a son of Eric Turner and wife Melanie of Luray, and Crissy Renee Plum Miller and husband Nathan of Texas.
Cameron was a veteran of the United States Army. During the period of Active duty service within the Army of our great country, Cameron was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon. Cameron selflessly defended the American people during his nine-month deployment to Poland, where he worked tirelessly to ensure a constant state of readiness for the Mechanized Cavalry of the FSC BSB FC, which is based at Fort Cavazos, Texas.
On October 19, 2024, he married Ella Grace Gravitt Turner, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his parents and his wife are a sister, McKenzie Johnson and husband Connor of Alabama; three brothers, Brady Miller, Connor Miller and Eleazar Johann Miller, all of Texas; his grandparents, Danny and Tina Turner of Luray, and Terry and Susan Plum of Shenandoah; his great-grandparents, Noah and Mozell Turner of Stanley, and Norma Silvious and Lois Sours, both of Luray; his in-laws, Mark and Kathy Gravitt of Cleveland, GA; two sisters-in-law, Emily Slayton and husband Chad (and son Everett), and Erin Gravitt, all of Georgia; two aunts, Savanah Gionis and husband Christian of Shenandoah, and Megan Cubbage and husband Danny of Luray; an uncle, Joshua Plum of Shenandoah; and three cousins, Aven Plum of Shenandoah, and Abel Cubbage and Cohen Cubbage, both of Luray. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Charles Sours, Neva Shifflett Pierce, Melvin Shifflett, and Hilda and Gene Plum.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, at the Leake’s Chapel Church of the Brethren in Stanley.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, at the church, conducted by Pastor Duane Painter. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Luray.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Gravitt, Chad Slayton, Danny Cubbage, Josh Plum, Brady Miller, Connor Miller and Connor Johnson. Honorary pallbearers include Abel Cubbage and Aven Plum.
Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
