Age 79, Shenandoah, Va.
Carl Eugene Rudolph Jr., 79, of Shenandoah Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Carl was born May 31, 1945 in Brunswick Maryland to the late Carl Eugene Rudolph Sr. and Mary Susan Stoneberger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Nancy Arnold Rudolph; stepson, Steven Hilliards; brothers-in-law, Jesse Eppard Sr., John Haney, Edward Rosson; sisters, Tammy Grimsley, Sandra Rosson, Julie Sullivan.
He was an associate member of the Shenandoah Fire Department. His hobbies were wood working, yard work, beach vacations, being a jokester and playing pranks on family members, and enjoyed the beauty of old cars. He lived by the Shenandoah River, and spent many hours enjoying its beauty. He was a family man, cherishing time with his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and lots of other family members. He loved and adored the bond he had with his sisters and brother. He was a carpenter for many years being self-employed owning his own business in S.C. and joining his brother’s business Rudolph’s Quality Construction later after moving back to Va.
Carl is survived by, companion of 17 years, Mary Sours Hilliards of Luray, Va; son, Carl E. Rudolph III; daughters, Chelsea Rudolph Sours and husband, Dennis, Emily Hart and husband, Billy; brother, Douglas Rudolph and companion, Kathy Shifflett; sisters, Carolyn Eppard of Elkton, Kathy Comer and husband, Lonnie of Shenandoah, Vickie Breeden and husband, Rick of Shenandoah; brothers-in-law, Judson Sullivan of Shenandoah, Jeff Grimsley of Shenandoah; grandchildren, Allen Dale Cloude III and wife, Ashley, William Ryan Hart and girlfriend, Alexis Wimer; great-grandchildren, Brynlee Wolfe, Thaddaus Cloude, Crimsyn Cloude; puppy dog, Roxy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with Pastor Richard Breeden officiating. Burial will follow at Leakes Chapel Cemetery in Page County.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
