Carrillonneur dies

September 28, 1986 — Charles Thomas Chapman, 81, of Luray, a retired educator and renowned carillonneur of the Luray Singing Tower, died Thursday, Sept. 18, at Page Memorial Hospital in Luray following a long illness. Mr. Chapman served as principal of Luray High School for 10 years before becoming carillonneur of the Luray Singing Tower just after its dedication in 1937. He remained in that post until his retirement in August 1984.
