Charles “Charlie” William Putman Jr., 82, of Luray, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Skyview Springs Nursing and Rehab.

He was born on October 18, 1943, in Strasburg (Shenandoah County) and was a son of the late Charles William Putman Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Golliday Putman.

Charlie worked for the Northern Virginia Daily for many years and was a lifetime member of the Strasburg Fire Department. He was a beloved member of Big Spring Mennonite Church.

Charlie is survived by a daughter, Tammy Neff; three siblings, Tommy “Randolph” Putman, Penny Putman and Ann Putman; three grandchildren, David Neff (Betty), Ashley Garcia and Erica Cotto; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Lou Putman.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 17, at Big Spring Mennonite Church by Pastor Pearl Hartman, followed by a light meal. A graveside service be held at 1:30 p.m. at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
