Age 78, Luray, Va.
Charles Franklin Lucas, 78, of Luray, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
He was born in Page County on June 21, 1947, to Casper and Maudie Lucas.
Charles was a devoted husband, father, pawpaw and friend. He was a landscaping supervisor and manager at James Madison University for 19 years.
Charles married Dorothy, the love of his life, on June 25, 1966. Together they created a beautiful life and loving family.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by two sons, Charles “Frank” Lucas Jr. and wife Lorie, and Jeffery Lucas and wife Connie, all of Stanley; three sisters, Catherine Knight and Diane Lam, both of Stanley, and Dixie Waugh of Elkton; six grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Nichole Wood and husband Jason, Brianna Waters and husband David, Katlyn Painter and husband Aaron, Faith Lucas and fiancé Caleb Wright, Jack Lucas and Cooper Lucas; and four great-grandchildren, Landon Wood, Camden Wood, Paisley Waters and Deacon Waters.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, Luella Campbell, Richard Lucas and Earl Lucas.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 27, at the Blue Ridge Pentecostal Church.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, at the church by the Rev. Jack Campbell. Burial will be in the Leake’s Chapel Cemetery in Stanley.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Luray Little League, the Luray High School Baseball Team or to the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
