Age 79, Shenandoah, Va.
Deloria Frances Grimsley “Fran” Turner, 79 of Shenandoah passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at her home.
She was born in Shenandoah on April 24, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Sibert E. And Grace E. Comer Grimsley.
Frances attended New Life Gospel Church in Shenandoah. She volunteered for 24 years with Shenandoah Volunteer Rescue Squad, and enjoyed helping her sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Bruce Robertson during their years at Shenandoah Florist, as well as the many years she spent working at Shenandoah IGA and Shenandoah Garden Spot. She was a gifted florist and cake decorator creating many beautiful arrangements over the last 35 years.
She is survived by her children Elaine Sullivan (Larry), Michael Shifflett (Tina), Jennifer Morris (James), and Julie Baksa (Dylan). Frances is also survived by ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two on the way, her sister, Virginia “Ginny” Shifflett, as well as numerous special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Melvin Earl, William Warren (Marr), Macon Elwood (Mick), Mitchell Lee, Milton “Amos”, Franklin Delaine (Muzz) Grimsley and sisters Elenore Purdham and Phyllis Robertson.
The family will receive friends Tuesday October 7, 2025, at New Life Gospel Church from 2pm-3pm and the funeral will follow immediately after with Pastor Paul “Jim” Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow at the Warren Comer family cemetery in Shenandoah.
The family would like to thank Blue Ridge Hospice for their excellent care for Mom during the past 4 months. Special “Thank You’s” to Mari, Sarah, Kathy, Brooke, Stephanie, Asia, Susie, Serena and Stacey for their exceptionally wonderful care.
