February 27, 1967 — Following publication of an editorial and news article in last week’s issue, Dr. J.R. Holsinger, president of the Medical Staff of Page Memorial Hospital issued the following statement:
“In response to the recent question of the status of the Obstetrical Care at the Page Memorial Hospital, I have in my practice taken steps to reduce the number of cases to the point where I may continue to be able to meet the demands of the other patients that are seen in general practice. Physicians of the community have recognized the shortage of doctors for some time and it appears to me that this shortage now includes nurses and other medical personnel. I am quite happy to see that other people and organizations are aware of the situation and are trying to do something constructive about it.”
