Age 93, Luray, Va.

Doris Marie Campbell Cave, fondly known as “MeeMaw” by those who loved her, passed away peacefully in Luray, VA, on December 16, 2025.

Born on April 7, 1932, to Rufus and Margie Campbell, Doris was a woman of deep faith and an active member of the Luray Church of the Brethren, where she was a life member.

Doris married Jacob Nelson Cave on June 12, 1972. They shared many years together, and he survives her.

Doris had a vibrant childhood filled with memories of her beloved friend, Nancy Blakemore. She pursued her education at Lord Fairfax Community College, which paved the way for a varied and fulfilling career. Doris worked at Page Milling Company for over a decade, and also spent time at Tastee Freez and Page County Public Schools, the latter of which was her favorite job. She was also a skilled bookkeeper at Wooden Lamb and a realtor with Foxfire Real Estate. She also sold memorial stones for Rinker Frye.

Her passion for bowling led her to form her own team, the “Page Milling Company Stars,” which later became the “Tastee Freez Enterprise.” She was a community-minded individual, always eager to sell tickets for fundraisers and actively participating in church activities.

One of Doris’ great joys was her flower garden. Her beautiful floral displays won her numerous blue ribbons and grand sweepstakes at the Page Valley Fair, a testament to her green thumb and love of nature.

Though she never had children of her own, Doris cherished three special individuals, Robert, Haley, and Caitlyn, whom she watched over from their childhood until they were grown. They will forever hold a special place in her heart along with several great-grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her five brothers and one sister. She is survived by her sister, Millie, and her beloved nieces and nephews.

Doris will be remembered as a devoted woman of God, a caring and loving “MeeMaw,” and a cherished friend and family member. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and community spirit.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, at the Luray Church of the Brethren, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Luray.
