Age 101, Front Royal, Va.
Dorothy Ann Beach Seal was born March 26, 1923, in Brooklyn, NY, to parents Carroll E. Beach and Caroline Long Beach. She passed away on December 2, 2024, in Front Royal, VA. Her lineage traces to the first families of Virginia, as a Colonial Dame in the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. In the intervening 100-plus years, she had a full life.
Following her 1940 graduation from Luray High School, she attended Lincoln Memorial University. During WWII, she worked for the British Merchant Shipping Mission. Married in 1942 to Everett C. Seal, they resided in Northern Virginia until her retirement in 1979 as Assistant VP/Branch Manager for First Virginia Bank in Falls Church.
After relocating to Luray, Va., she was active in the Luray Garden Club, Ladies Guild at St. Mark Lutheran Church, and the Luray Supper Club. She was an avid tournament bridge player, achieving Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Dorothy Ann was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Everett C. Seal, and surviving her are her two children, Howard Conard Seal and Mary Carole Alford, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She is to be buried at Green Hill Cemetery, Luray, Va., with graveside services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, conducted by the Rev. Nick Eichelberger.
