Dorothy Irene Sours Emerson, 98, of Luray, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Skyview Springs Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on March 13, 1927, in Luray and was a daughter of the late Amiss Hudson Sours and Gertie Lee Jenkins Sours.
Dorothy was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Luray and a lifetime member of the Luray Volunteer Rescue Squad.
On July 19, 1947, she married Thomas Maclyn Emerson, who died on July 4, 1980.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Sharon Chu and husband Alan of New Bern, NC, and Deborah Sue Buchanan and husband Ron of Charlottesville; a son, Thomas Coffman Emerson of Luray; a sister, Beverly Lee of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Shanda Wentzel and husband Joel, Ethan Chu and wife Michelle, Megan Watson and husband Rock, Alyson Snider and husband Zach, and Robyn Noack; 10 great-grandchildren, Johnnie Mauck, Zachary Mauck, Catriel Calloway, Darius Watson, Troy Watson, Morgan Snider, Archer Snider, Ashtin Staffan, Jaxon Staffan and Jorja Staffan; and eight great-great-grandchildren, Arabella, Vivian, JohnnieMac, Kamdyn, Bryce, Tripp, Beau and Dion.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Groveen Jones; and a grandson, Brian Buchanan.
Services are planned for a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
