Age 77, Elkton, Va.
Dorothy Jean Kite Shuey, 77, of Elkton, passed away on February 14, 2025, at English Meadows in Harrisonburg. Mrs. Shuey was born November 18, 1947, in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of the late Glenn Forrest Kite and Eunice Sipe Hamilton.
Mrs. Shuey grew up in Elkton and was a member of Lady’s Auxiliary of Jr. O.U.A.M # 149 in Elkton, and attended Lily of the Valley Church in Shenandoah. She was a Den Mother and Cub Scout leader for a number of years and enjoyed camping, Virginia Beach vacations, cruises, crocheting, reading, playing cards, looking over the farm, and watching FOX News. She loved Hot Chocolate and had an unending love for her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Shuey was determined, friendly, generous and drove herself to strive for perfection, and often said, “Always be grateful for what you have.”
Her fondest memory was the day she married Clinton Eugene Shuey, who survives and was the “Best friend she ever had.” Also surviving are sons, Clinton Travis Shuey and wife, Samantha, Phillip Mark Bushong; a daughter, Teri Bushong Curtis; sisters, Karla Comer and husband, Steve, Mary Beth Cash, and husband, Charlie; a brother, Greg Hill; three grandchildren, Dave L. Bushong, Garrett M. Thomas, and H. Ariana Curtis; two great-grandchildren, Tres Dean, Oliver Bushong; special friends, Pam Briggs, Suzi Berry, Judy Didawick, Nancy Dunsmore, and Jackie Harris. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Steve Kite, Jerry Kite, and Lynn Martin Kite.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg.
Rev. Dickie Campbell will conduct a graveside service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
