Age 58, Rileyville, Va.
Douglas E. Hill Jr. passed away on September 20, 2024. He was born in Page County, Virginia, on April 13, 1966, to Douglas E. Hill Sr. and Janet M. (Strosnider) Hill.
He is survived by his fiancée, Betty Jo Stoneberger, of 40 years, and she was his caregiver for the last eight years. She cared for him with the greatest of care.
He is survived by his son, Joseph Hill, who was his personal chauffeur and best bud; sisters Karen Runyon and husband Bo, and Dawn Turner and husband Charlie; a brother-in-law, Stuart Atkins; also numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
He loved his cat, Tiggy, who was always next to him wherever he was.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Felicia Jo; his parents; his grandmother, Marian Wolfe; his sister, Laney Atkins; and his two best friends, Albert Stoneberger Jr. and David Short.
Dougie always loved to hunt and fish and liked to be around old Ford Torinos and Fairlanes. He lived his life pretty much the way he wanted to until eight years ago when he suffered a stroke. Once he had his stroke it slowly changed him. He was limited to what he could do on his own. That’s when he really had to start to depend on Betty Jo and Joey more. Then on June 5, he was diagnosed with cancer and once that happened his life even changed more.
Dougie made a lot of good and bad choices during his lifetime, however, on August 10 he made the choice to accept Jesus as his Savior, the greatest decision of his life. As his days were coming to an end, we could see it but through all the pain he endured we know now he is pain free.
We will miss you and will always love you.
