Douglas Macarthur Jobe, 82, of Elkton, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.
He was born on February 24, 1942, in Page County and was a son of the late Charles Marion Jobe and Mona Marie Painter Jobe.
Douglas attended Luray High School and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served two years as a medic in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, he worked at Bluebell and later retired from Lowe’s in Harrisonburg.
Following retirement, one of his favorite pastimes was communicating by way of CB radio, going by the handle DJ194. He was also an avid computer user and often offered advice to his family on anything do to with technology.
Douglas was so proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his greatest joy was spending time with them.
On January 26, 1967, he married Frances Louise Turner Jobe, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Annetta Martz and husband Jimmy of Luray; three grandchildren, Brittney Hinegardner and companion Charlie Morris, and Patrick Martz and wife Angelica, all of Shenandoah, and Jacob Martz of Luray; and three great-grandchildren, Brianna Hinegardner, Christian Morris and Isabella Martz.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Jean Griffith and JoAnn M. Seal; and a brother, Charles E. Jobe.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, at the Newport Covenant Brethren Church by Pastor Duane Painter.
