Dutton leaving Page for JMU

May 29, 1986 — Dave Dutton, former boys varsity basketball coach at Page County High School, recently announced he is leaving his teaching post at the school. Dutton, whose resignation becomes effective Friday, will become a full-time assistant under James Madison University Basketball Coach John Thurston.

Dutton served as the Panthers’ head varsity basketball coach for the 1983-84 and 1984- 85 campaigns before Stan Price took over last season. He retained his teaching duties at PCHS after resigning from the basketball program.

“He’ll be involved in assisting with floor coaching and recruiting,” said PCHS Athletic Director Bruce Short,“and have a variety of duties regarding his basketball coaching there.”
