Dwayne Samuel “Sammy” Dodson, 63, of Luray, left this life on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
He was born on May 30, 1961, in Luray and was a son of the late Perry Jacob Dodson, formerly of Madison, VA, and Barbara Ann Shenk Short, formerly of Luray.
Sammy was a retired carpenter and had a passion for all types of music. As an avid musician, Sammy loved playing his electric guitar and sharing his music with others.
Sammy is survived by two sisters, Joan Knight of Luray, and Trisha Wright of Stanley; a brother, Tony Dodson of Luray; his daughter, Crystal Dodson, and grandson Caleb Burke, both of Princeton, WI; his stepfather, James Short of Shenandoah; a brother-in-law, Butch Knight of Luray; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews from Luray, Stanley, Shenandoah and Madison. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Duke.
Sammy was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Lyle Dodson, and nephew Jerry Viands II, both formerly of Luray.
A memorial service will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, April 5, at the Antioch Independent Bible Church in Luray. Pastor Alan Jones will be delivering the eulogy. A reception and Celebration of Life will be held following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to help offset funeral expenses. Contributions may be sent to his sister, Joan Knight, 1104 Valley Burg Rd., Luray, VA 22835.
