Strasburg and Central dominate Bull Run selections

LURAY, Nov. 14 — Having completed the regular season last Friday, the Bull Run District released its All-District selections for football this week. The Luray Bulldogs earned three first-team and six second-team selections, while the Page County Panthers placed one player on both offense and defense of the second team. Central topped the picks at 19, while Strasburg had 18.

The 2025 Bull Run District Offensive Player of the Year is junior running back Quincy Williams of Strasburg. Luray’s junior running back Ryan Jenkins also earned first team honors, along with Central’s junior running back Chris Brown. A solid trio of running backs that all return next season.

The 2025 Bull Run District Defensive Player of the Year is senior defensive lineman Hutson Conrad of Strasburg. Luray junior linebacker Trey Guzy was a first team defensive selection, as well as the Bulldogs’ sophomore defensive back Mason Cubbage.

Luray junior offensive lineman Caleb Atwood earned a spot on the all-district second team offense, along with Guzy at tight end and senior running back Cason Byant. Page County junior Braxton Pettit made second team offense as a all-purpose player.

The Bulldogs’ senior defensive lineman Cody Hoke received a nod for the all-district second team, as did sophomore linebacker Emery Secrist, sophomore defensive back Caleb Cyphert, senior defensive back Chance Beahm, and Bryant as an all-purpose defensive player. Page County sophomore Logan Richards was chosen a second team linebacker.

While the Panthers’ season ended at 2-8 with the rivalry loss last Friday night, Luray (6-4) hosts Buffalo Gap (4-6) this Friday in the first round of the Region 1B playoff. The Bison come into the game having won three of their last five games, after a 1-4 start. They have wins over Bath County, Rockbridge, Staunton and Waynesboro. In Gap’s regular season finale on Oct. 31, the Bison lost to Stuarts Draft, 35-27. On Sept. 5, Luray lost at Stuarts Draft in overtime, 26-20.
