Age 97, Shenandoah, Va.
Emma Lee Sponaugle, 97, of Shenandoah, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Life Care Center of New Market. She was born February 14, 1928 in Cambridge, Maryland and was the daughter of the late Leon Wilson and Nancy Willie Wilson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Sponaugle; her son, Stephen Sponaugle; daughter, Donna Youngblood and a brother, Carl Wilson.
Emma’s first love in life was God, church and family. She was a lifelong member of Bible Holiness Church in Elkton. Her greatest enjoyment was serving and ministering to others. Emma enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Roger Sponaugle and wife, Ginny of Stuarts Draft; brother, Jonathan Wilson and wife, Geraldine of South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Dorinda Sponaugle, of Elkton; sister-in-law, Martha Wilson of Florida; grandchildren, Matt, Phil, John, Stephen, Samuel, Jimmy, Keith and Tammy. Numerous great-grandchildren and extended family.
A Funeral Service will be conducted 1 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2025 at Bible Holiness Church in Elkton with Pastor Brent Gabbard officiating. Burial to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.
Visitation will be 12 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2025 at the church prior to the service.
Arrangements are being handled by the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, Va.
