Age 90, Elkton, Va.
Eugene H. Plume, 90, of Elkton, VA was called home by his precious Lord on September 25, 2024. He was born on September 22, 1934 to the late Gilbert and Jennie Dean Plume on the farm that would always be his home. Eugene has plowed the last furrow and harvested the last crop in his earthly home and his Lord says, “Well Done, my good and faithful servant.”
In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Parrish and Naomi Davis; brother, Lawrence Plume; and special brother-in-law, Vincent Davis.
Gene was a lifelong farmer who was never afraid of hard work. He graduated from Elkton High School where he played football. He is survived by his wife Doris Rodeffer Plume. They shared 68 loving and devoted years together. Gene was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Church of the Trinity and the Page Valley Sportsman’s Club. He retired from Reynolds Metals with 30 years of service.
He is survived by his daughters; Leisa Riddle and husband Mike, Pam Conley and husband Derrick, Jackie Meadows and husband Delane; son, Jason Plume and wife Maria; grandchildren, Tyler Williams and wife Brooke, Jordan Williams and wife Samantha, Elizabeth Hall and husband Jullian, Rebekah Kimble and husband Tracy, Zachary Conley and wife Shaina, Gabbrial Clark and husband Dakota, Tristan Walters and husband Kolby, Adrienne Meadows, Coty Plume and partner Destiny, Lindsay Harlow and husband Chase; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Emmett Williams, Harrison and Oliver Williams, Tessa and Beau Kimble, Elijah and Everitt Conley, Lettie Jean Clark, Stetson and Elsie Walters, Danika and Delaney Harris and Braley Harlow; sister, Ruby Davis; special nephew, Lowell Davis.
A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2024 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with Pastor Rick Robertson and Pastor Julian Shifflett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Jordy and Adi for making grandaddy’s last days more comfortable and for the kindhearted care of Beverly and Linda. Also, special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and especially nurse, Kaitlyn, for their compassionate care.
