Give opinions and input that will help guide the future of Page County
~ PVN staff report
LURAY — Page County officials are asking residents and land owners to complete an online survey that will help guide both them and future county leaders in making decisions that will shape the future of Page County.
“This is your opportunity to weigh in on how you would like the county to look in 20-plus years, where development should go, which areas should be protected and what you think is working well or needs attention,” reads a statement on the first page of the county survey.
Survey participants remain anonymous, and are not asked to give any personal identifying information other than their age (range) and approximately how long they have lived in Page County and how long they intend to stay here.
Page County Comprehensive Plan “is the County’s most important guide regarding growth, development, and conservation. It establishes government guidelines for public and private activities as they relate to land use and community facilities. The plan is the basis for land use regulations, capital improvements for schools, parks, and other public services, transportation investments, and environmental and historic resource protection. Consulting the plan, which is revised every five years, should be the first step of local governments to ensure their decisions are in harmony with the community’s vision for itself,” reads a portion of the opening statement on the survey.
The county’s comprehensive plan does not directly address growth and development issues within the town limits of Luray, Shenandoah or Stanley, as each individual town develops and revises its own comprehensive plan to address these issues within each town’s corporate boundaries.
Anyone who has questions about the survey may visit the Page County website at www.pagecounty.virginia.gov for more information and ongoing updates, or contact Josh Hahn, Planner at (540) 843-3456 or email him at jhahn@pagecounty.viriginia.gov.
At this time, no deadline — or end date — has been set for the survey.
