Fire on the Hawksbill

January 8, 1911 — Mr. E.E. Huffman’s corn crib, wagon shed and farm implement house all combined burned at this home on the Hawksbill Dec. 28 in the afternoon. A steam engine and hay bailer had been driven from the barn yard but a short while before the fire broke out, and it is supposed that the building caught from a spark from the smoke stack.

There were about 50 barrels of corn in the crib belonging to Mr. Jos. A. Huffman, all of which was practically destroyed, and Mr. E.E. Huffman lost a few articles stored in the building. Mr. Huffman’s building was insured for $150, and Mr. Jos. A. Huffman’s corn was insured while contained in the barn, but not in the crib.
