July 24, 1911 — The firemen’s parade and the reel races were participated in by the Charles Town Company, Friendship Company of Winchester, Company No. 4 of Harrisonburg, Massanutton Horse Company at Strasburg and the Shenandoah Company.

The Luray Company also went in the parade. Both Luray and Charles Town had drum corps along and the Harrisonburg band marched with the company from that town. Shenandoah won the $25 prize for having the most uniformed firemen in line of march. Their number was 44.

Harrisonburg second with 42. Winchester with 26 had the least of all. The first prize, $100, in the reel races went to Winchester; the second prize, $50, went to Shenandoah.
