Fitton earns second team All-Region honors in volleyball

LURAY, Nov. 15 — The Luray Bulldogs placed four football players on the All-Region second team, while the Page County Panthers had an honoree as well. Among the five local selections in Region 2B, two were on offense, one on defense, and two on special teams.
LHS senior Timmy McClung was chosen as a second team offensive lineman, while junior Cason Bryant was named a second team running back.
On defense, Luray sophomore Trey Guzy earned second team honors as a linebacker.
On special teams, Page County senior Ace Campbell was selected as a second team kick returner, while Luray senior Jakob Choat was chosen as a second team punter.
The Offensive Player of the Year in the Bull Run District was Madison County’s Jeremiah Brown. The Defensive Player of the Year in the Bull Run District was Clarke County’s Saia Tuivailala.
VOLLEYBALL
Luray High School junior Reese Fitton earned second team All-Region honors in volleyball, despite the Bulldogs early exit in the quarterfinals of the Region 2B tournament. Fitton earned first team honors in the Bull Run District and was the only local volleyball player selected for the all-region squad.
Fort Defiance’s Maecy Frizzle was chosen as the Region 2B Player of the Year, while Clarke County’s Skyler Layton as named Coach of the Year as the Eagles took the regular season and tournament title.
