LURAY, April 3  — During her time at Page County High School, Kaylee Campbell set several records. In 2023 during her sophomore year, Campbell became the first female to medal at district and qualify for the region tournament. Two years later, she would become the first female grappler to earn all-state honors, and the first Panther in the program to reach the collegiate level.

Now, wrestling for The Apprentice School in Newport News, she’s become an All-American.

Last Saturday, March 28, Campbell finished in eighth place at the NCWA National Wrestling Championships at the Brookshire Arena in Bossier City, La. In only her freshman year of collegiate competition, Campbell earned a spot on the podium in the biggest match of the year, wrestling in the 110-pound weight class.

Campbell finished her freshman wrestling campaign at The Apprentice School with a record of 50-13.

It seems that PCHS head wrestling coach Greg Martin was right about Campbell in a previous interview, when he stated, “She’s just got that ‘dawg in her.”
