Age 92, Shenandoah, Va.
Frances Mae Alger Taylor, 92, of Shenandoah, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Taylor was born May 12, 1933, in Stanley, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Russell and Elyon Housden Alger and step-father, Berlyn Dofflemyer.
On June 1, 1951, she married James Elwood Taylor, who also preceded her in death on November 6, 2004.
Frances attended Stanley and Shenandoah Public Schools. She worked at Genie in Shenandoah for 10 years, later she was a stay-at-home mom and house wife. She was a member of First Christian Church and she loved gardening and cooking. She was a devoted wife and an amazing mother. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by two sons, Larry E. “Hobby” Taylor, and Gary A. “Red” Taylor and wife, Anita; daughter, Wanda Foltz and husband, Billy, all of Shenandoah; nieces, Sue Huffer and Dennis, Trudie Lucas and Roger, Lois Hensley; nephew, Lynn Herring and Lisa; her doggie “Ginger”.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Leake’s Chapel Cemetery near Stanley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Department, 201 Pennsylvania Ave., Shenandoah, VA 22849.
