Genevieve Mae Majors Franklin, 89, of Elkton, Virginia, transitioned from earth to paradise on Friday, February 13, 2026, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Genevieve was born on November 2, 1936, to the late Jesse James and Myrtle Majors in the Naked Creek area of Page County, Virginia. She attended school at the Andrew Jackson School in Luray, Virginia.
On May 21, 1961, Genevieve married Robert Lee Franklin, and together they built a life full of love and cherished memories. She was a hard worker, retiring from Dunham-Bush in Harrisonburg, Virginia, after 31 years of dedicated service.
A faithful member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church (Bryant Hollow) in Elkton, Virginia, Genevieve served as a deaconess and sang in the choir. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandparent, and her home was always open, as she delighted in entertaining family and friends. Mrs. Genevieve always stated that she was “Blessed by the Best.”
Genevieve is survived by her children: Irvin Majors (Ann) of Elkton, Virginia; Lorraine Franklin Taylor (Ralph) of Williamsburg, Virginia; Robert “RL” Franklin (Jill); and Tony Franklin; a sister, Delores Craig; brothers-in-law, Melvin and Steve Davis; and her best friend, Connie Cubbage, all of Elkton, Virginia. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, five brothers, and two sisters.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
A Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2026, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with Rev. Frances Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery on Bryant Hollow Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Genevieve’s name; 5197 Bryant Hollow Rd, Elkton, Va, 22827.
