September 22, 1990 — Genie Manufacturing Inc. has been purchased by Brynwood Partners II, a limited partnership, Genie company President John Gray announced Monday. Genie, which has the only active manufacturing plant in Shenandoah, is a leading manufacturer of garage door openers and wet and dry utility vacuum cleaners. The company is headquartered in Ohio.

“The present management will stay in place,” Gray said,“We don’t anticipate any changes other than to look for new products and to grow. There will be no changes as to where we will make the products.”

Gray said that he had met with company officials in Shenandoah and with employees to reassure them that their positions would remain secure.
