Age 77, Roanoke, Va.
George William Burrill Jr., 77, of Roanoke, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was born on November 29, 1946, in Page County and was a son of the late Thomas William Osborne and Louanna Virginia Gray Osborne.
George was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He had worked at Wrangler, ARA in Shenandoah National Park, and for WRAA radio station, where he was better known as “Cousin Brucie.”
On January 2, 1974, he married Margaret Frances Powell Burrill, who died on January 20, 2009.
George is survived by a daughter, Candace Ellis and husband David of Luray; four sisters, Patricia Jenkins, Donna Lou Bell and husband Rusty, and Deborah G. Whitmer, all of Luray, and Shelly Faye Good of Shenandoah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Michael P. Burrill.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
