Geraldine Gale Tobin, 99, of Luray, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

She was born on August 6, 1926, in Luray and was a daughter of the late John David Sours and Maude E. Miller Sours.

Geraldine had worked at the Luray Textile plant for 42 years and 20 years at Luray Elementary. She was the oldest member of the Morning Star Lutheran Church and VFW women’s auxiliary.

On July 31, 1948, she married Robert “Bob” Elmo Tobin, who died on April 23, 2014. They met when Bob asked and took a lick of her ice cream cone on Main Street. She never met a stranger. She loved music, dancing and was away on the go with her friends.

Geraldine is survived by two sons, Gerald “Jerry” Tobin and Kent Lee Tobin and wife Sue, both of Luray; four grandchildren, Tonya L. Turkiewicz and husband Robert of Luray, Kimberly D. Hawkins and husband Tommy of Mount Jackson, Karen Bauserman and husband Terry of Rileyville, and Bart Tobin of Rileyville; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Hawkins of Mount Jackson and Ryvanna Turkiewicz of Luray; and one great-great-grandchild, Cyndel Turkiewicz of Luray.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Vickie Wood Tobin; six brothers, John Leroy Sours, Grover Sours, Dudley Sours, Harlan “Hop” Sours, Lester Sours and Bernard “Bob” Sours; and four sisters, Zelda “June” Fox, Clara E. Moyer, Allene Sours and Dorothy Seal.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, at the Bradley Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 19, at the Morning Star Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jeffrey D. Marble and Pastor Ryan Viands. Burial will be in the Morning Star Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Morning Star Women’s Fellowship or to the Luray Volunteer Fire Department.
