December 22, 1990 — Eldon L. Gochenour has been appointed as new postmaster of the Luray Post Office, it was announced Friday. The announcement was made by the Richmond Division of the U.S. Postal Service and the appointment became effective Saturday. Gochenour succeeds T. “I look forward to serving the citizens of Luray and Page County and facing the many challenges and changes the 1990s will bring for the Postal Service,” Gochenour said.

Gochenour is a 20-year veteran of the Postal Service and has served as superintendent of postal operations at the Luray office for the past two years. He began his postal career in 1970 as a mail clerk at Postal Service Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
