Age 94, Shenandoah, Va.
Hazel Marie Nauman Tappy, 94, of Shenandoah, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Sunnyside Healthcare.
Mrs. Tappy was born on January 7, 1930 in Page County and was a daughter of the late Floyd Allen and Beulah Lee (Sours) Nauman. She graduated from Stanley High School, Class of 1947. Later she became a member of the Shenandoah E.U.B. on October 26, 1952, now known as Christ United Methodist Church. She also attended the Ida Grove Gospel Chapel for many years.
She worked as a sale representative for Stanley Home Products, which allowed her to grow and cultivate many friends and special relationships throughout Page County. She had an outgoing personality and a servant’s heart. Hazel always thought of others, and has sent more cards to friends and family than Hallmark! She was an avid reader of presidential history, and a true student of the Bible. Hazel also enjoyed traveling, and visited the holy land three times. Her greatest love was her family and her friends.
On September 16, 1950 she married Grover Elvin Tappy. Together they settled in Shenandoah where they raised two sons. She was preceded in death by Grover on March 2, 2007.
She is survived by her son, Ron Tappy and wife, Connie G. Tappy of Pittsburgh, PA; a brother, Floyd Allen “Bucky” Nauman Jr; three sisters, Patsy Caton, Joyce Comer, Kaye Rickard; four grandchildren, Rickie Allen Tappy, Jr., Jeremiah Tappy, Madeleine Rose Trivasse, Amanda Tappy, Michelle Frazier; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Tappy was preceded in death by a son, Rickie Allen Tappy; and siblings, Vance Nauman, Bobby Nauman, Kenneth Nauman, Dennis Nauman, Margie Campbell, Jean Flores.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Pete Campbell officiating.
