Herman Ernest Hoppe, 93, of Stanley, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025.
He was born on June 1, 1932, in Carter Camp, Pa., and was a son of the late Eugene Ernest Hoppe and Phoebe Mae Baker Hoppe.
Herman was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War, and also served with the Army Reserve.
On November 23, 1955, he married Nancy Paula Holder Hoppe, who died on February 8, 2014.
Herman is survived by four sons, Dean Hoppe of Luray, Ernest Hoppe of Culpeper, Donald Hoppe of Romney, WV, and Dale Hoppe of Bunker Hill, WV; five daughters, Brenda Walters of Troutdale, Sharon Meeks of Capon Bridge, WV, Wanda Bird of Winchester, Nanette Robinson of Warrenton, and Lisa Lunson of Front Royal; 26 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six sisters, Velma Trautner, Ola Mae Hoppe, Edna Gaines, Clara Buman, Ethel Hoppe, and Helen Barber; and six brothers, Howard Hoppe, Erwin Hoppe, Carl Hoppe, Frederick Hoppe, Robert Hoppe and Donald Hoppe.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Walter Whorten, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m.
Burial will be held at the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery, with military honors by the Luray VFW Comer-Jones Post 621.
