STANLEY, Dec. 14 — A residential structure along Honeyville Road was consumed by fire on Sunday afternoon. There has been no indication in reports as to whether the structure was actually inhabited, but no injuries were reported with the incident.
“At approximately 4:33 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, Company 24 units were dispatched to a structure fire in the area of Valley Gas and Grocery on Honeyville Road,” reads a report issued by Lt. Zach Croft. “Units arrived on scene to find a single story residential structure fully involved.”
Despite the structure being “fully involved,” the blaze was brought under control in 30 minutes, according to the report. Firefighters remained on the scene for two more hours “conducting overhaul of the structure to ensure the fire was out.”
“Cold temperatures and wind played a factor in fighting the fire,” Lt. Croft stated. “A big thanks to Luray Fire Department, who assisted us with a tanker.”
At 8 p.m. as firefighters were working on getting trucks back in service, Company 24 units were dispatched for a chimney fire (location not reported), which was quickly contained.
“Thank you to our dedicated volunteers for answering these calls,” Lt. Croft’s report stated.
Company 24 acknowledged other units that helped or assisted with these incidents, including the Stanley Volunteer Rescue Squad, Page County Fire-EMS, Luray Fire Department, VDOT and the Page County Sheriff’s Office.
