LURAY, Nov. 10 — After issuing an alert on social media late Sunday morning, the Page County Sheriff’s Office had located an escaped inmate and taken him back into custody by noon.
Ashton Blaine Cook, 26, escaped from police custody while receiving medical treatment at Page Memorial Hospital Sunday morning. The 5’5″, 130-pound white male with red hair and green eyes was described as “last seen wearing an orange jail jump suit” and residents were asked to call 911 if they saw Cook or any “suspicious activity.”
A heavy police presence was seen in and around Page Memorial Hospital, just off West Main Street. A “drone, K-9 unit, and multiple law enforcement agencies” were used to search for Cook, according to a statement released by the Sheriff’s Office.
On Saturday night, Cook had been arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI), driving after the forfeiture of his operator’s license, and resisting arrest.
Shortly after noon (approximately 12:13 p.m.), the Sheriff’s Office reported that the search was over and Cook had been taken into custody.
