LYNCHBURG, March 4-5 — Overall, the county produced a combined 20 all-state performers between Class 1 and Class 2 of the VIrginia High School League Indoor Track State Championships held March 4-5 at Liberty University.

Junior Azmani Jackson lead 13 all-state performers from Luray High School in the VHSL Class 1 State Indoor Track Championships. Jackson took first place and became a state champion in the 500 meter dash, with a time of 1:06.4 — a new school record at LHS. The junior finished state runner-up in the 300 meter dash (36.01 seconds), just eight one-hundreds of a second behind the state champion. Jackson earned a third all-state medal as a member of the sixth-place 4×400 meter relay team (3:44.72), which included Daniel Frey, Qamryn McNeal and Thomas Jarvis.
Every LHS track athlete — boys and girls — who made it to the indoor finals at Liberty University, earned all-state honors (top eight finishers).
Sophomore Daniel Frey brought home three medals of his own. In addition to being part of the sixth-place 4×400 meter relay team, Frey finished sixth in the 55 meter hurdles (8.71 seconds) and eighth in the 500 meter dash (1:12.57).
In the girls division, senior Lucy Currle had the biggest day among the nine females competing for Luray. Currle finished as state runner-up in the high jump (5 feet) and in fourth place in the 55 meter hurdles (9.24 seconds).
Three others also earned dual medals as a member of relay teams.
