James “Jimbo” Ray Dean II, 37, of McGaheysville, Virginia, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023.
Jimbo was born April 5, 1986, and was the son of James Ray Dean and wife, Anita and his mother, the late Carolyn Yvonne Shifflett. He was preceded in death by Nicky Dean and Lois Dean; grandparents, Curtis Dean and Virginia Dean, Shirley Dean.
Jimbo loved sports; baseball, golf and horseshoes. He was a true outdoorsman; loving hunting and fishing. He played baseball for the Page County Panthers was inducted into the PCHS Hall of Fame and he also played for the Shenandoah Indians.
Jimbo had a contagious smile and the biggest heart of anyone you met. His greatest achievements were his children. He was the happiest being the amazing father that he was. Jimbo and his father Jimmy were inseparable and had an unbroken bond. He was an amazing father figure to his nephews. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his father and step-mother, he is survived by his son, Austin Dean; daughter, Ryleigh Dean; sisters, Missy Dean Donovan and husband, Tim, and Shannon Dellinger; uncles, Jerry Dean and wife, Robin, Randy Dean and wife, Debbie; aunts, Jeanette Whetzel, Sheila “Cricket” Lam and husband, Bart; special nephews, Tyler and Joey Lam; his best friend, Brandon May; special cousins, Rena Dean, Curtis Dean, Becky Roadcap, Shana Dean, Carlee Dean and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with Pastor Carter Dean officiating.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to offset funeral expenses.
