James Marshall Legg

Age 83, Luray, Va.

James Marshall Legg, 83, of Luray, passed away at his home Thursday, December 19, 2024, with his wife by his side. 

He was born May 10, 1941, in Middletown, Virginia, and was the son of the late Earl Love Legg and Lola Conner Legg.

He was married on July 25, 1970, to Joyce Andrea Sloat Legg, who survives.

Jimmy was a carpenter and worked with his brother at Clayton I. Legg Company for many years. He later worked for Ennis Electric in Manassas, Va., until he retired. 

Jimmy and his wife raised horses and there was nothing he loved more than seeing a newborn foal. 

He was a loving father and grandfather and everyone admired his amazing sense of humor. He loved life and life loved him.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Tracy Butler (Robby), Winchester, Va.; three grandsons, Chris Kees (Tara), Winchester, Va., Shane Kees (Stacey), Annandale, Va., and Ryan Butler (Emily), Winchester, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Donovan, Ashton, Carlee, Glavin and Kingston; a sister, Lois Ann Stansberry, Boydton, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton Legg and Eddie Legg; and four sisters, Mildred Messall, Libby Wert, Kathleen Pugh and Dorothy Legg.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Ida Grove Gospel Church, 135 Ida Hollow Road, Luray, Va. 22835; or to the Page County Animal Shelter, 1261 Goodrich Road, Stanley, Va. 22851.

Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
